ARTISTIC VISION
Alice’s work frequently meditates on change, fragility and the intersection between human life and natural systems. Her projects often respond to environmental themes, exploring tipping points, fractures and transformations in the landscape.
Process / Technical Innovation
Her practice involves sensitive interaction with the material: she aims to respond to the existing forms, textures, and qualities of the stone rather than impose wholly predetermined shapes. During a 2014 residency in Pietrasanta with the RSS, she worked closely with artists in the marble quarries, letting the material guide the gesture.
“My fascination with people and our material engagement with the world around us makes me endeavour to create work that is as inclusive as possible. I am interested in ways of communicating, the ways we interact with and understand our surroundings.”
RECOGNITION
Alice is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. She was chosen to represent the UK in a Europe-wide public art project in Italy, and has worked on public commissions addressing issues such as climate change and housing.
She was recently awarded a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship and has worked in collaboration with the Bank of England and Bristol University.
